What We Are

We offer a comprehensive approach to lameness assessment, performance enhancement, and access to rehabilitative therapies. Our patients range from competitive athletes to geriatric companions that are retired now as members of a family. They share in common that they have committed owners that prioritize their comfort and enjoy caring for them.

Although Dr. McCall provides some ancillary services -such as coggins testing, interstate health exams, and at home euthanasia- to accommodate the needs of her clients, we are not a full service veterinary clinic! Our goal is not replace, but to work with your regular veterinarian in providing optimal care for musculoskeletal and lameness conditions.

Upon completion of an exam Dr. McCall may refer you to your regular veterinarian for imaging such as radiographs (“x-rays”) or an ultrasound. She may refer you to a university hospital or specialty center as well for an MRI, CT, or Nuclear Scintigraphy (“bone scan”), should you elect to pursue these options. Dr. McCall will work with specialists and your regular veterinarian when applying the results from these imaging studies to arrive at a diagnosis. Depending upon the severity of your animal’s condition, this can be an essential step in deciding whether or how to include Acupuncture or Chiropractic in its treatment.

Pharmaceuticals and Herbs

Dr. McCall prescribes pharmaceuticals as necessary for her patients. Although we carry a small selection of medications for limited use, we are not a pharmacy. If a medication is indicated for your horse or your dog, Dr. McCall will write you a prescription that you can fill at the pharmacy of your choice. We highly recommend the Rood & Riddle Pharmacy in Lexington, Kentucky as a source for quality medications and reliable service.

If indicated for the patient and preferred by the owner, Dr. McCall can also prescribe herbs. She uses Jing Tang Herbal formulations by Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist Dr. Huisheng Xie. His herbal blends are manufactured in accordance with FDA and cGMP regulations, and comply with strict pharmaceutical standards. They are sold through licensed veterinarians only, but Dr. McCall can arrange to have them shipped directly to your stable or home. Chinese herbal medicine is particularly effective in combination with acupuncture.
