About Dr. McCall

IMG_6674Dr. Juliea McCall is a graduate of Western University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Pomona, California. Following veterinary school Dr. McCall completed an internship at a sports medicine practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has practiced as an associate in both small animal and equine medicine clinics. Dr. McCall received training in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida, and is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. She completed training in animal chiropractic at the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Sturtevant, Wisconsin under the direction of Dr. Pedro Rivera. The Healing Oasis is the only fully accredited school in the country to offer postgraduate training in Functional Neurology and a diploma in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy, which Dr. McCall proudly displays. She also completed the examination for and has been admitted as a member to the College of Animal Chiropractors.

Dr. McCall pursued further training in movement and neuromuscular therapies for humans, and this informs her work with a distinct and comprehensive understanding of biomechanics. She completed the 1,000 hour Holistic Health Practitioner program at the International Professional School of Bodywork in San Diego, California, and the 4 year Feldenkrais® Practitioner Training in Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement® with Dr. Jeff Haller in Seattle, Washington. She has utilized her training in functional movement with riders seeking performance enhancement, and in instances where a rider and horse combination exhibit a mismatch in movement that manifests as a recurring pain condition for either one or both of them. A former rider and olympic training centre athlete, Dr. McCall has experienced first hand the benefits of the therapies she offers and the way in which a well designed rehabilitation program can augment an athlete’s return to performance.

Dr. McCall maintains active memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and is a USDA accredited veterinarian. Her dedication to the Veterinary Oath is reflected in her unwavering commitment to continued professional development and her passion for working equids. Dr. McCall is appreciated for her compassionate care giving to patients and her straightforward, communicative style with both clients and colleagues. In her off time, Dr. McCall enjoys hiking, riding, and travel, and tutours adult learners of english as a second language through the Literacy Volunteers of Rochester program.
